  • Jack Jones - Concert Percussion/Trap Set Teacher

    Teaching Day: Tuesdays

Jack Jones has been performing and teaching music for nearly 20 years, and in that time he’s received a wide array of instruction and performance experience. He has a B.M. in Music Education from the University of LA at Monroe, and is well versed in classical music theory, orchestral percussion and marching band percussion. He also began sitting in in his father’s bands from the age of 10, and was playing professional jazz, blues, and rock gigs in the Monroe area as a teenager. He considers his learning on the stage his most valuable education.

In Atlanta, Jack has worked with many of the most respected local talent in many different musical situations, such as The Mike Veal Band, The Breeze Kings, Andrew Black, and jazz pianist Kevin Bales. He also has toured the U.S. and Japan extensively with jamband luminary, Col. Bruce Hampton, Sonia Leigh, and Texas blues legend Chris Duarte. He’s jammed with Zac Brown, and in educational settings, he’s shared the stage with jazz legends Mike Stern and Paquito D'rivera. Jack also performed extensively with the Monroe Symphony Orchestra as an orchestral percussionist.

He is currently finishing up degree work for a Masters degree in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University, and working full time playing drums in Atlanta. Jack has also been an instructor at the Atlanta Institute of Music since 2005, where he teaches both privately and in the classroom setting.
