Jay Hutcherson is the owner of The Music Hutch Studio. He has taught several tuba players.  It is especially important for new tuba players to have personalized individual instruction to not only get a good start, but to continue to progress and be challenged.

Mr. Hutcherson received his Bachelor's of Music Education at the University of Georgia in 1983 where he studied under Albert Ligotti, 4th chair trumpet in the New York Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra directed by Leonard Bernstein. Jay played principal trumpet in the University Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band 1, Symphonic Band and the Redcoat Marching Band. Jay also acquired a Master's of Business Administration in 2006. He is a retired teacher who has taught band for thirty-nine years, twenty five with Fulton County Schools, where he taught high school, middle school and elementary school bands. He has taken all three levels of bands to Georgia 5th District Performance Evaluations and has received superior ratings at each level.

In 2006, Mr. Hutcherson founded and directed the first ever Fulton County Elementary Honor band. The audition only band consisted of around seventy-five students from twenty-seven elementary schools each year. The Honor Band performed at the GMEA Fifth District Performance Evaluation and received superior ratings for several years. In the band's final year, it placed 1st runner up as the nation's best 5th grade band.

Mr. Hutcherson also founded and directed the Vivace! Summer Middle School Band Camp in 2007 which had between 65 and 90 campers each year until 2020.

Jay teaches privately currently at The Music Hutch Studio.
